Myofacial Therapy (MFT, also known as
Myofacial Release) is a specialized approach to massage therapy. Entire sessions are dedicated to one specific
area, usually centered around a joint, to create changes based on postural
imbalances and abnormal or limited movements of that joint. MFT to me is the best of the best of massage
therapy.
First we pick an area to work on. With specific questioning, postural
observances and range of motion tests, I can create a strategy for your session
with a specific goal. Then the fun part;
the massage happens. Then we re-assess
the posture and movements, chart them, and go from there. Sometimes new things arise as old ones
heal. All in all, specific goals are set
and carefully observed. The best reviews
I have on my client review page were usually MFT sessions. This modality is the most progress oriented,
with detailed documentation of each movement and muscle, each session.
Currently I offer MFT on the following
joint regions:
Shoulder
blade (scapulothoracic joint, back area)
Shoulder
(glenohumeral joint, front area)
Neck
Spine
Knee
Foot/Ankle
Elbow/Wrist
Hip
